Since making his day debut in the music industry end of 2007, early 2008 he has been making his mark in south area his home town ARLINGTON, TEXAS [DFW] and surrounding area's DALLAS, CORPUS CHRISTI, LUBBOCK better known as the lone star state "TEXAS". DERRICK LAMONT MATHIS bka TEFLON aka YUNG MONeY has patiently and artfully crafted some of the most acclaimed and compelling Rap / Pop / Rnb music since his 1st independent major hit single "DA BOOT" took off so fast it was unbelievable, Started as a small movement in Arlington, later moved around Dallas area and next thing you know it was one of the biggest hits in 2007 / 2008 and still to this day is being played across the world. With so much other different music TEFLON came in the music industry as the big dance crave started 2 arrive such as Soulja Boy's "Crank Dat" and other hits as "My Dougie" Now that some of the industry has got a chance 2 hear some of the new music I think he is one the nation’s most unrecognized artist around. Independent label faceoff which was created by TEFLON now has created an even bigger label independent which is now TOP5ENT is making moves from TEXAS across the south in the GEORGIA, Atlanta area sure 2 make his mark in one of the nation’s biggest city of music.
Many people didn’t believe in the kid started out as a DJ in skating ring and also house party in the neighborhood. Which he created his own buzz in the street night after night grinding do what he loves 2 do, which is music.
Djing created a way for him 2 make his mark in the game, slowly stepping away from Djing and now is putting out mix tapes every 6 months and almost a new single every just 2 keep everybody wondering what is the kid going 2 do next ???.
Performing different high schools / pep rallies / clubs / and even concerts in the different areas around the world from: Alaska, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico, Louisiana, Kansas, Indiana, and also TEXAS his buzz is only getting bigger day by day. With over 100,000 friends, over a million plays his music is traveling fast.
With dropping a "EP" sold over 20,000 copies independent, plus 3 different mix tapes, and selling out shows, 1st YouTube video hit over a million of plays and was deleted, now the video has been back up and now is almost at 400,000 plays it want be long before it hits a million plus more again, it’s only a matter of time before he gets his big break in the industry.
