Brand Nu’s “The Black Mixtape” is nothing that should be looked over. I had a hard time deciding where to start on this, when I first hit play and having never heard Brand Nu before, I thought for a few seconds that I was listening to Lupe Fiasco. Everything comes together so well that you would wonder why he wasn’t already signed. The respectable production in collaboration with his flow makes tracks go by without you even realizing it. This isn’t a mixtape with the first few tracks being lyrical and the rest of it being mediocre; from track 1 to 23 this tape delivers something your ears will appreciate. Without knowing any better, people could mistake this for an album drop. If you’ve never heard of him before this’ll definitely spark some interest.

 

Born in the Midwest, BrandNu has expanded his ideals and knowledge beyond Middle America. His organic approach to his music creates a sound that is both refreshing and impossible to duplicate.
